Drama and Music

Established in 2001, the Secondary School  Productions aim to:

  • Develop self-esteem and resiliency
  • Build a strong sense of community
  • Reflect  on what it means to be a theatre-maker and an active, engaged citizen in society
  • Encourage awareness and activism through theatre and music.

We have yearly productions of drama and musicals. Every other year, we participate in Great Britain's National Theatre Connections. “The largest celebration of youth theatre in the world.” With Connections, we have the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh to perform at the Royal Lyceum Theatre.

Previous productions include:

Visual Arts

Visual Arts is a subject area that employs a visual language that can transcend cultural boundaries and is in fact a universal form of human expression. In both the Primary and Secondary school at OIS students have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge of art, develop skills and communicate their own sense of identity through historical study, exploration and practical activities. These activities include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking etc.

In the Primary section Visual arts is an integral part of the IPC curriculum and in the Secondary school it is a mandatory part of the curriculum from years 7 to 10. Thereafter it is an elective and can be studied at both standard and higher level in the IB programme.

In addition after school workshops are offered by the Primary school during certain periods of the year and Secondary students can take part in extra life-drawing classes.
