When will I know if my child has a place?
Although you may apply at any time, there are some key dates to be aware of if you are hoping to begin school on the first day of the academic year in August.
15 January: We send the first round of admissions decisions for each academic year around the middle of the preceding March. If you want to receive your admission decision as a part of that first round of offers it is critical that you start your application by January 15th. Applications are considered started once the online application has been submitted and the application fee is paid.
1 February: If you start your application by January 15th, you then have until February 1st to fully complete the application by completing all of your required checklist items. If you complete your application before February 1st, you will receive your admissions decision in the first round of offers in mid-March. Applications that are not complete by February 1st will not be reviewed in time to be a part of the first round of decisions, but will be reviewed on a rolling basis with decisions given as quickly as possible.
1 May: If you are applying to start in school on the first day of the academic year in August, we strongly advise you to submit your application and all checklist items by May 1st at the latest. We will continue to review applications on a rolling basis, even during the summer holiday, but we cannot guarantee students applying after May 1st will be able to begin on the first day of school.
Once we have the completed online application and all the required documents, we send your file to the Head of the relevant Division. The Head, along with their team, review the file and make the final decision on acceptance. We then inform you of the decision via an official email. If your child has been admitted, you will be asked to confirm your child's enrollment within 14 days.
OIS wishes to accept all applicants, but admission is not guaranteed. The school may decide to deny admission for a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, when there are concerns about the applicant's ability to thrive in our academic program, when a candidate’s English language proficiency does not meet the requirement of the year level to which they are applying, the inability of OIS to provide suitable learning support for the applicant, evidence of a poor disciplinary record or anti-social behavior. If an applicant is denied admission, notification of the decision will be communicated to the family by the Admissions Office.
