Our Lower Secondary curriculum blends academic rigour and international perspectives. A well-rounded education, including creativity, world studies and technology, opens doors for their unique potential.
Students are challenged to develop high levels of understanding and skills across a broad range of subjects. We provide many opportunities within and beyond the curriculum, as well as meeting national and international requirements. Our teachers care and support the development of each individual student that culminates in excellent academic achievements and wide choices for further education.
The programme is delivered by collaborative, highly qualified teachers that have OIS core values at the centre of everything they do. Our main aim is to develop the attributes in young people to enable them to understand and manage the complexities of the world and to help them be ethical students, competent adults, and responsible global citizens.

Year 7: transitioning to Secondary
The purpose of the Year 7 curriculum is to make the transition from Primary to Secondary smoother for students.
The framework is built around six subject groups that provide each student with a range of subjects: Languages, Humanities, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts, Physical Education. In addition to this, students have PSHE, Digital Skills, Service Learning, and Global Studies to develop in a holistic way. The curriculum is designed to support student needs at this level:
- Learn how to use the digital platforms used in Secondary.
- Develop organisational skills, transitional skills, and independence.
- Adapt to an increase in variables in the curriculum and academic challenges, including exams.
- Benefit from additional English and Mathematics.
Years 8-10: a holistic approach
The Year 8-10 Curriculum develops students’ knowledge, understanding and skills. It provides the foundation for students going into our Upper Secondary Programme and the IB Diploma Programme.
