Student Council & Clubs

The voice of our student body

Taking part in the student council and student led clubs gives our students a voice, and fosters school spirit. They also organise and engage in a wide variety of clubs and activities that help shape the culture of OIS.

Student council and democracy

The Student Council is the voice of our student body, and joining is a great way to develop leadership skills and make a positive impact on our school. One of its main objectives is to encourage inclusion of the entire student body in enhancing student life and experience at OIS. They help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects and local community initiatives.

The Student Council functions in the three different divisions of the school (Primary, Lower and Upper Secondary), according to the needs of the students. Members represent their class peers and share students’ improvement ideas, interests, and concerns with student council facilitators, teachers and leadership.

Two Student Council representatives from each division are members of the school’s Cooperation Council where parents, students, staff and leadership meet to improve the learning environment.

Student-led clubs

Our students are actively engaged in making a positive impact in the community through student-led clubs such as Amnesty, The Thirst Project, LGBTQ+ and many more.

They come together to advocate for specific causes and issues, and work to create a more inclusive and accepting environment for all. These clubs often work with the Student Council to organise events, fundraisers, and volunteer opportunities to support their causes and make a positive impact in the community.
