Creativity, expression and confidence
Through visual arts, music and drama, students develop creativity, technical skills and confidence while exploring different ideas, cultures and forms of expression.
From Pre-School to Upper Secondary, students are encouraged to experiment, collaborate and share their work, developing both artistic skills and an appreciation of the creative process.
Visual Arts
In Primary and Secondary, students broaden their knowledge of art, develop their skills and communicate their own sense of identity through historical study, exploration and practical activities. These activities include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture and printmaking.
From Year 2 to Year 6 children learn about the elements of art and the principles of design, whilst experimenting with different art media and practicing their drawing and painting skills. They are introduced to art history and famous painters and paintings, as well as using art to explore world culture. Links are made with the International Primary Curriculum units which are studied in the classroom.
Visual Arts in Secondary is designed for students who have a passion for art and wish to develop their skills and understanding of the subject in a holistic and challenging way. The program covers a wide range of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and digital art, and encourages students to experiment with different techniques and styles.
Additionally, strong emphasis is placed on the process of creating art, including research, experimentation, and critical reflection, and students are encouraged to explore the social and cultural contexts in which art is created and experienced.
It is inspiring to take part in the student’s artistic development and see them creating unique works with layers of meaning.

Music
Music is part of the curriculum from Pre-School to Year 10, nurturing creativity, confidence and self-expression from an early age. Younger students explore rhythm, singing and a wide variety of sounds through musical games, body percussion, and tuned and untuned instruments.
As students progress through the school, they develop their musical knowledge, skills and understanding through increasingly challenging performances, compositions and creative projects.
Music and drama are a powerful way of developing creativity and self-expression. They are also great builders of self-confidence and teamwork.

Drama
Drama is taught throughout Lower Secondary (Years 7–10), giving students the opportunity to develop confidence, communication, creativity and collaboration through performance, theatre-making and creative expression.
Our annual Secondary School production is a highlight of the school year, bringing students from different year groups together in a collaborative production created by the Drama and Music departments. Students are encouraged to take part both on stage and behind the scenes, contributing as actors, set and costume designers, lighting and sound technicians, stage make-up artists and members of the production team. Each year, students explore a variety of genres, from musicals and comedies to drama.
Primary students also enjoy drama through creative classroom activities and performances, including puppet shows and productions presented by older students, inspiring a love of storytelling and the performing arts from an early age.
