Starting at a new school, and often a new country, is a significant change for any family. At OIS, we understand the importance of helping students and parents settle in quickly, build new connections and feel at home. From your first day, our staff and wider school community are here to support you every step of the way.
Supporting the Transition
Throughout the year, we organise welcome activities, school-wide events and monthly coffee mornings to help new families get to know one another, ask questions and learn more about life at OIS and in Norway.
The support we had from the OIS community when we arrived meant so much. Having the opportunity to meet other families made our transition so much easier.

Getting Involved
Life at OIS extends well beyond the classroom. Families can take part in a wide range of activities, including after-school opportunities for adults such as language classes and community sports evenings. Students also enjoy clubs, competitions and performances, while families are always welcome to come along, support events and take part in school life.
Volunteering at OIS
Parents make a valuable contribution to school life by sharing their time, skills and experience. Volunteers assist in classrooms and the library, accompany field trips, support sports teams, speak to students about careers, help organise events and serve on the School Board.
Volunteering is also a great way to meet other families, build connections and become more involved in school life.
Our Parent Association (OISPA) offers many opportunities to volunteer, participate in events and connect with other families.
